Nicest B&B We've Stayed In
Pros: I particularly liked the warm, welcoming, elegant vibe. I could properly relax here.
Location: If you like pub food, there are three pubs nearby. There's a fantastic bakery in Ladysmith. We like Mary Fox, the potter in Ladysmith as well.
Hawley Place was the whole package: super clean, elegant, wonderful hosts (warm, but unobtrusive). The breakfast was to die for - homemade bread, homemade granola, homemade yogurt, homemade jams, top-notch Eggs Benny. We've stayed at a lot of Airbnbs and B&Bs. This is the nicest we've stayed in. It's less than 90 minutes from home, but we would love to stay here again.
It was like being in heaven without dying.
Liked: I loved all of it. The extra comfy bed, the warm welcome, the cleanliness of the B&B, the location, the food, the owners.
Disliked: Absolutely nothing, it was all superb.
My wife and I when traveling stay frequently at B & B establishments. Our recent one week stay at Hawley Place in our book has established a new standard of excellence in terms of overall service, quality of food, and host's attentiveness to detail.
We are looking forward to our next stay at Hawley Place in the not too distant future.
We highly recommend that you too should give Mandy, and Dwaine the opportunity to let you experience what it's like to stay as their guests at this one of the kind establishment.

We truly appreciated your friendly hospitality when we stayed at your beautiful home. In one word......it was "perfect"!
We feel we have new friends in Ladysmith and Qualicum Beach, BC. When we think of our trip, we will definitely have happy memories of our stay with you. Hopefully we will return one day.
Best regards, Barb and Pat Oldfield
To Take 5:
We were recent visitors to Ladysmith and felt so welcome and at home there. We are from Nova Scotia where hospitality is a way of life. The Hawley Place B and B was a perfect place to stay. We enjoyed visiting the bakery for delicious coffee breaks and chocolate peanut butter cinnamon buns. Dinners were enjoyed At the Fox and Hounds......but particularly the second night. As we were about to leave, the waitress informed us that a young man had paid our bill! We were surprised and amazed to receive this unexpected gesture. What a wonderful place is Ladysmith!!! Thank you everyone. We shall be back for sure.

“Great place to recharge”
After a terrible day of traveling, I'd written off every possible redemption of the day. Luckily, Mandy greeted my very late arrival with some chocolate biscuits and the comfy bed in the nicely appointed room allowed me to continue the next day. She even gave me a ride the next morning for me to continue my journey. Just don't start a corny joke competition, as various guests and Dwaine have the habit of joining in.
Mandy and Dwaine the new owners greeted us with a very warm and welcome that made us feel right at home. Mandy has a great eye for interior design and every room was beautifully appointed, You wake up every morning to a delicious selection for breakfast that is especially cooked for you at the time you have requested. The gardens are beautiful with plenty of areas to sit and relax in the very quiet location of the B&B. Mandy and Dwaine have such warm and engaging personalities as well as a great sense of humour. They also have two wonderful small dogs for you to enjoy. It is a fantastic place to stay and such a positive experience. We stayed in the King room for two nights, it has a water view as well as beautiful decor. We highly recommend Hawley Place B&B. There many attractions and eating places near by and Ladysmith is a lovely town over looking the Harbour.
Thank-you Mandy and Dwaine
Three of us, mother, daughter, and friend, each wanted our own room for a 2-night stay. Perfect! All three rooms are comfortable and have their own washrooms; one room is a bit smaller. All are warm and inviting. With the comfortable sofa and chairs downstairs, as well as beautiful grounds with lots of seating outside, we spent little time in our rooms. The coffee and tea made us feel at home, and Mandy had baked a cookie bar specially to avoid an allergy.
Breakfast was delicious, and vegetarian option no problem. We lingered, wondering how our on-the-road breakfast would be for our second night. Our hosts packed a bag with yogurt sundaes as well as scrumptious baked goods. We could not have asked for anything more.
Would we go back? Most definitely. This is one of the nicest, most hospitable B&B's anywhere.
My mom and had the pleasure of staying in this lovely Victorian Home, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute! Our hostess Mandy and her personal assistant :) :) (hubby, and I am sorry to say I have forgotten his name) were so very warm and welcoming. They took over the property, late spring I think, and are sure to be a huge success. Mandy was able to provide us with a really great place for supper as well as some information about the area. Breakfast was superb with several menu choices and everything is homemade. The grounds are simply beautiful! They have two very sweet dogs and as animal lovers we enjoyed spending a little time with them. Yogurt, bread, jams, etc. I am sincerely hoping that I get a chance to visit this home on another island visit!!
